Business Project 2016
What I learned:
This was by far my favorite project. At the beginning I wasn't so excited to do it but as the project went on I ended up really enjoying it. I felt like I was really about to start my own business. I researched the costs to produce my product. I learned about Optimum price and break even points. While doing that I learned how to maximize my profits. I calculated my projected sales which is how much I predict I will sell in the first month or year. I spent hours on making my prototype and preparing to pitch in front of a panel of Venture Capitalist. I had to make a good first impression, make sure all my math added up and try to convince them to invest in my product. It was nerve wrecking the day I pitched, but I knew I was prepared. I signed up to be the first one to go on day 1 out of 3. On March 3rd the class found out if they won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place out of 40-50 students. I won First place! I got the opportunity to win money to start my business. I did not take the opportunity up because I felt like it would be to much to juggle school and be a business owner, but I did enjoy the experience! I would most likely do this again, but change the way I went about it. I would probably have made my prototype a lot sooner than I did so that I could've made more changes to it, and make it look nicer. I am grateful for the experience because I feel like I came out of this more confident and more open to ideas.
